Chocolate. Chocolate. Chocolate.

Through Sweets I hope to help shine a light on the chocolate industry that requires major change.

For mass-producing companies to see the profits they’re happy with, cacao farms in Western Africa - where 70% of the world’s cacao comes from - still rely heavily on child labor and child slavery. Children forced to give up their lives for the $1 chocolate bar. It’s been over 20 years since these giant corporations signed the Harkin-Engel Protocol and pledged to put a stop to “the worst forms of child labor.” Nothing has changed, and the problem is getting worse.

I hope to raise more awareness around this and help people see that it matters where our chocolate comes from and how the communities and farmers there are being treated.

Sweets proudly donates 5% of proceeds to the Food Empowerment Project helping to push companies to be transparent in where they source their chocolate to allow consumers to make informed decisions.
